Saturday 5 October saw the return of Emergency, Manchester’s marathon micro-festival of live art and contemporary performance. Presented by Word of Warning, there was a full day of events, starting off at Blank Media Collective’s BLANKSPACE in the morning and moving to Z-arts in the afternoon.
We popped over to Z-arts to catch a few of the shows in the packed programme and had a truly excellent time watching a fantastic mix of absurd, hilarious and highly original pieces. We were markedly wooed by Lucy Hutson’s bold and funny show, went So Far West with a REAL cowboy and were left in fits of laughter by Sheep Knuckle’s show Echo.
Emergency was just the start of Word of Warning’s Autumn / Winter season. The rest of their programme looks great, particularly Domestic (8-17 Nov), a series of intimate interactions, homely conversations and domestic dramas played out in a block of flats.
